Baby Food Dilemma: Jars, Pouches, or Both?

Many parents select organic wholesome baby food for their little ones to ensure that their developing bodies enjoy nourishment without imitation colors, flavors or preservatives. Organic wholesome foods are grown with none of the potentially dangerous pesticides that many of the other foods are grown with.  The decision to choose premade baby food vs. using homemade baby food is a common topic, but have you thought much about the actual container that it's stored in?

You've most likely become aware of the increase of baby food sold in food pouches. It might even have you wondering if pouches are superior to jarred baby food. Each version actually has its own benefits when it comes to helping your baby discover good eating habits.

JARS

Since 1931, baby food has been sold in jars everywhere.  Until recently families used to eat mostly at the house so the heavy jars really weren't an issue. The great thing about jars of food is that there is a massive assortment of flavors and consistency than the assortment sold in pouches although that is changing with the reusable food pouches. Baby foods packaged in jars also have a longer shelf-life of close to 2 years where as pouches only have a shelf life of close to 1 year.  When it comes to the prefilled pouches sold in stores, stocking up on a great sale is more convenient with the jars than with the pouches because of the shelf life alone.

POUCHES

Pouches are perfect for the mother on the go. They are very convenient and can be taken anywhere.  You no longer have to worry about a super heavy diaper bag filled with baby food anymore, and you don't have to worry about where to keep your spoon.  Pouches have changed quite a bit over the past year.  Not only can you get prefilled pouches with baby food from the store, you can also buy reusable food pouches to fill with your own wholesome baby food of your choice.  You can carry them with you almost anywhere, and because they're resealable, you can store any uneaten portions in the refrigerator. Baby food pouches also allow your little one to feed himself which helps him to develop more independence. That will make him happy and frees you up at the same time! The reusable food pouches are new and will save you a ton of money on baby food.  The Little Hands Reusable Food Pouch can hold up to 7oz of pureed food and can be used again and again.  The bright orange color will help your toddler continue to eat their wholesome fruits and vegetables during their picky toddler stages!
