Loose and unsightly sagging skin on your upper legs can be beautifully reduced by means of a thigh lift. This cosmetic surgery procedure is a method used by many to firm up the thighs after massive weight loss, or simply after age, pregnancy, or other factors have taken a toll on your body.
There are slightly different techniques and versions of this surgery available, suited to fit your exact needs. These include the inner, the medial, and the bilateral thigh lift.
Inner Thigh Procedure
During this surgery, the plastic surgeon will make an incision between the inner thigh and the pubic bone, and then make a downward pointing triangular incision down the inner thigh. This is then removed, liposuction is sometimes performed on this area as well to remove underlying fatty deposits, and the remaining skin is stretched tight and sewn back together.
The result is firmer thighs, although there will be a visible scar down the inner thigh. This will fade over time, but never completely go away. Still, the scars used with any of these methods are usually well worth it to patients who enjoy the benefits of fabulous looking upper legs.
Medial Procedure
In this technique, the cosmetic surgeon will make an incision from the inside of the thigh around the back and under the buttock crease. The skin from the leg is then pulled upward, the excess is cut off, fat is removed if desired, and is sutured back in place.
The scar from this operation, while visible is usually very well concealed in hard to see areas, even while wearing a bathing suit. This medical procedure can actually do a lot to change the shape of the thigh as well as remove unwanted, saggy skin.
Bi lateral Procedure
With the bilateral method, the plastic surgeon makes an incision along the line where the bottom of a pair of underwear would come to on the front and side of the leg. It is loosened from the underlying tissue, pulled up, any extra fat can then be removed, and the extra one is excised. The remaining skin is pulled tight and stitched back together. This is particularly helpful in improving the appearance of the front and side of the upper leg and the incision is fairly easily hidden with underwear or swim wear.
A thigh lift can be an excellent way to get rid of annoying excess flab and to firm up those upper legs, when diet and exercise just don't seem to be enough. If you are unsure which method is right for you, a consultation with a qualified plastic surgeon can help answer all your questions.
