6 Ways To Help Eliminate Hair Breakage and Split-Ends

Healthy hair is happy hair and happy hair ALWAYS looks amazing! Unfortunately, primping, curling straightening and dousing your hair with way too many products during the holiday season usually winds up leaving your locks in dire need of rehab. To help keep your hair looking healthy and fabulous long past the holidays then check out my tips from my post Holiday Strand Survival Guidesee below!

Tip 1: START SEEING OTHERS Hair looking tired, dull and flat even though you are using your favorite, "never fail" shampoo and conditioner? Why not take a break from your every day shampoo and conditioner. By simply saying "so long" to your old shampoo and conditioner and switching to a new brand may be just what you need to help rid your locks of all the "baggage" (build up) that your old products have left behind. Hey, you never know, you may just find a new product that you can't live without!

Tip 2: MAKE A CLEAN START Once or twice a week use a shampoo that is specifically formulated to deep clean your locks. Try using the Neutrogena Clarifying Anti-Residue Shampoo to help rid your locks of unwanted product build-up, dirt and oils. Hair will have more volume, body and bounce. I have also found that by using an anti-residue shampoo like the Neutrogena Clarifying Anti-Residue Shampoo once a week actually made my favorite shampoo and conditioner work better.

Tip 3: JUST SAY "NO" Give your strands a break and say "no" to blow drying, curling, flat ironing and damaging hair styling products that we have abused our hair with this holiday season! After washing your hair let it air dry naturally. Put down your bottles of styling gels, creams and hairspray and let your hair take a breather from the products that dry-out and damage our precious locks.

Tip 4: COOL OFF I love the feeling of really warm water running through my hair as much as the next girl but warm to hot water can cause hair to become dry and brittle. Try giving your hair a quick rinse of cold water after you have finished shampooing and conditioning it. Cold water adds AMAZING shine and smoothness to even the most stressed-out strands. I do this all the time to my hair and it really does work!

Tip 5: A CUT ABOVE THE REST Trim your hair every 6-8 weeks to keep split ends and unwanted breakage to a minimum. While most of us get a lump in our throats every time the stylist starts snipping off our strands, I have found that since I have been faithfully having my hair trimmed every 6 -8 weeks my hair has actually grown longer and stronger. Trimming helps to keep hair looking fresh, full and healthy.

Tip 6: TREAT YOUR TRESSES TO A LITTLE PAMPERING! We treat our faces to reinvigorating masks, why not treat our tresses to the same kind of pampering. Spoil your hair this holiday season with a deep penetrating, moisturizing hair mask. Deep conditioning hair treatments help to restore your hair's moisture and elasticity thus giving you back the smooth, luxurious locks you had before the "holiday hair styling bender" we all went on. Using a hair mask once a week will also help to minimize the damage that is caused from heat styling tools! Your hair has been good to you this holiday season now it's your turn to be good to your hair! Try out some or all of these tips and your hair will thank you!
