- 1). Select a small, thin section of hair at the crown, about a quarter of an inch worth. Divide it into three even smaller equal parts.
- 2). Cross the left strand of hair over the middle section, making the left section the new middle. Then, cross the right section of hair over the middle section, making the middle section the new right one. Continue overlapping the hair strands using this pattern until you have reached the end of the hair.
- 3). Tie the end of the hair in a slip knot to complete the end of the braid. To tie a slip knot, grab the strand of hair and form it into a loop. Fold the loop of hair horizontally so that two circles of hair are visible on each side, forming two new loops. Pass the left loop through the right loop of hair and pull to tighten.
- 4). Continue the same process for each small section of hair, making sure each section is split into three parts that are as thin as the previous one. Continue the procedure until the entire head is braided.
