The 5 Steps in the Making of a Private Jet

If you have ever flown on a private jet before, you will agree that private travel offers a great deal of comfort and flexibility.
Even if you have never had the experience, chances are you have heard of the luxurious treat in a private jet - or seen the pictures, at least.
Have you ever wondered how private jets are made? Do you know what procedures took place before that private jet you have seen or traveled in became safe enough for air travel? You will discover all of that in this post.
Yes, I agree with you - you are never going to build a jet yourself.
But it does not hurt if you just add this to your knowledge base.
Of course, no knowledge is useless.
So, here are the 5 steps involved in the making of a private jet: 1.
Get approval for your design
Of course, your design must be approved by the FAA.
Before you can get this approval, it must meet the set standards for aircraft design and modeling.
Before granting approval of your proposed design the FAA will ensure that you have the equipment needed to successfully complete such a design.
If you are coming with a design that requires the use of some new composite material, the approval may take longer, as the FAA will have to ensure that the new material is tested and suitable for use as part of an aircraft.
2.
Run ground tests
After you have assembled all the parts of the proposed aircraft together, you must test it on the ground - heavily.
The jet must be tested at both slow and fast speeds for various factors such as stability, handling, and controllability.
In addition, the engines must be tested by throttling them up to full speed and pulling them back quickly to check if they will not quit in the process.
The ground test also involves making mock takeoffs - accelerating to takeoff speed and then applying the brakes to test their function.
3.
Run complete flight tests
After you have ensured that your new aircraft is fit to run on the ground, it is time to test its ability to fly.
This step involves testing every facility in the aircraft that functions during flight.
During the flight test, manufacturers figure out all the data that will be included in the aircraft's flight manual - which will guide pilots on how fly the jet.
4.
Run system tests
Even when the aircraft can cruise at very high altitudes, you need to check if it is actually stable in the air.
Test pilots fly jets into very high altitudes and subject them to tests under various challenging conditions.
In addition, many parts of the plane are tested during this stage - such as the lights, window shades, flat screens, sound systems, autopilots, flight instruments, and de-icing facilities.
5.
Run safety tests
Although one may wonder why airplanes that cruise at several miles above the ground are still regarded as the safest way to travel.
The secret is stringent safety testing that every new aircraft must pass before entering the market.
During this stage, test pilots check the stall speeds, performance during engine failures as well as how the aircraft would fly if the electrical systems fail.
In addition, at this stage, emergency handling procedures are developed so that there will always be a way out of every emergency.
The procedures developed at this stage are aimed at maximizing safety even in hazardous conditions.
So, this is a brief description of all the steps involved in getting a new jet in the air.
You may one day feel inspired to start working on one.
