It can be hard work finding a good neck tie especially if you have no fashion sense like me.
It is no good having a fashionable looking shirt if the tie does not do it justice because it would just look silly.

If you are wearing a shirt that has small pattern on it then maybe a tie with a larger pattern would look good.
Likewise if you had a shirt that was full of larger patterns then you would probably look better with a neck tie that had smaller patterns on it.
It may also help if the trousers that you were wearing complimented the shirt and tie.
Another thing that needs careful attention too is the comparison between the neck tie and the collar of the shirt.
If you had a shirt with a narrow collar then it would be wise to use a neck tie with a small knot.
Likewise a broad collared shirt would look better with a larger knot on the neck tie.
