- 1). Measure the length across each wall with a tape measure.
- 2). Add the length of all of the walls together to find your total number of linear feet.
- 3). Divide the number of total linear feet by four, which is the standard length of drywall panels. This gives you the total number of panels required to cover your linear footage.
- 4). Measure the height in addition to linear footage since you want to be able to cover the wall from floor to ceiling. If your ceiling height is the standard eight feet or lower, you only need the number of panels that you found by dividing the linear feet by four. If the ceiling is higher, you need to multiply the height of your walls by the number of panels you need to cover the length of the walls and divide by eight. This will give you the number of panels you need.
