There are lots of towns which are growing under the auspices of the population boom of the city of Coimbatore. These towns had been playing their own small roles in the upkeep of the populations in the bigger city but in the larger scheme of things, they didn't have much of a say. Even though the town of Thudiyallur is a part of Coimbatore, there are many factors which kept it isolated from the mainstream. However, it has emerged from its shell and shed its image of being the poorer cousin to embark on a development spree which is expected to change the whole of the town and its surroundings.
Location and features
The town is just about 12 km from the center of the city of Coimbatore. The Regional Transport Office of the area of North Coimbatore is situated here. Apart from this the town is a mere 15 km from the Coimbatore Junction Railway Station. This station caters to thousands of travellers from different parts of the state and the country, being one of the major stations of the Southern India. The town lies on the way to Mettupalayam in Ooty, therefore, has a lot of thoroughfare happening every single day, what with the tourists and the transportation of goods.
Transportation and facilities
The main means of travelling to and from the town are with the private vehicles or the buses. Buses are the lifeblood of the transportation mediums of the town. In essence, the importance of buses is very high because the railway station which was established here earlier was scrapped off the route maps by the Railways. This has made the area lose out on a major avenue of travel, to be further pulled back from the mainstream. With the weekly market of the area being so popular, there is a constant need for transporting goods and materials from the different parts of the city and the villages beyond.
Amenities and Facilities available
The town may not have adequate infrastructure to convince the Railways to allow it a station of its own, but the town is not beyond any means of its own. The weekly market of the town is said to be very famous around these parts of the world. The market is held every Monday in two stages, morning market is for the cattle trade and the evening market trades in the vegetables. For everyday use, there is also a daily market which happens every morning now days. Departmental stores, hospitals, fuel stations and restaurants, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian are available in the area.
Real Estate Implications
The real estate industry of the area is on the upturn because of the influx of the migrants from the city who like to have a better atmosphere to build their houses in Thudiyallur and also have easy access to the city if they wished for it. Thudiyallur satisfies both these criteria adequately. The developers are also identifying the possibilities of this area and because of this the land prices are currently up at Rs.3579 per sq ft on average, which is close to the highest it has gone to Rs.3875 some months back.
