- Flying first class is a luxurious way to travel. First-class passengers have many perks that standard passengers miss out on. Although it can be considerably more expensive to fly first class, it's an experience that you won't want to miss. Save the first-class flights for longer trips to get the full benefit. You don't have to look to hard to find a reason to fly first class.
- Most airlines offer roomier seating arrangements for first-class passengers. Delta Airlines, for example, offers leather seats that recline. The seats also provide much more leg room for passengers. In addition, more storage space is available for laptops and carry-on luggage. Many airlines also offer electrical outlets so that passengers can charge cell phones, laptops and other electronics.
- Many airlines offer private suites for first-class passengers. Korean Air offers small suites that are closed off from other passengers by a small circular wall. A luxury seat and personal entertainment center are contained inside the suite. Many of the seats in the private suites lay out flat to make a bed, perfect for a passenger who has an overnight flight. Plush pillows and soft blankets are also provided to passengers.
- Gourmet menus with a variety of meal choices are readily available to first-class passengers. Some airlines, such as United Airlines, offer meals that feature an appetizer, soup or salad, choice of entree and dessert. Wine, beer and soda are available anytime throughout the flight. Entrees such as filet mignon or international cuisine are often served on international flights.
- Some people choose to fly first class because of the entertainment perks. Personal televisions with remote controls are a big hit with those who need entertainment on long flights. Headphones are usually available for each passenger to wear while watching television. Some airlines also offer movies, music and games for first-class passengers to enjoy during the flight. Complimentary newspapers may also be available for those individuals who like to know what's going on in the area that they are traveling to.
- Many airlines offer private waiting areas for their first-class passengers. These areas may be known as "member clubs" where first-class members can relax before boarding the plane. Each club has its own special features. The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse in London offers a spa, sauna, tanning booth, news programs on the room's multiple gigantic screens and velvet-covered seating. You may also receive priority check-in, baggage handling and boarding.
