Star Trek: TV, Movies and Collectibles

It's been over forty years after the original productions and Star Trek is still a force to be reckoned with. The legions of fans have supported the literally hundreds of television episodes from numerous series and spin-offs, as well as eleven movies. Someone has to be out there watching all this stuff and they're called Trekkies!

Star Trek: Original Series 1966-1969

The original television series was created by Gene Roddenberry and took several years of production before it was ready for primetime. The series ran from September 1966 through September 1969 and consisted of 79 episodes. Television viewers did not like the series, it had low ratings and low advertising revenue.
The show was in danger of being canceled several times. According to one source it's said that Lucille Ball, head of Desilu Studios, "single handledly kept Star Trek from being dumped from the lineup.*" The second season wasn't any better for the show and at that time a write-in campaign of over 1,000,000 letters saved the show. The show was renewed, but was stuck in a bad time slot where it couldn't survive.
