As an entrepreneur working from home using the Internet to market your business, you can often get caught up in finding tricks and techniques to get the customer to buy. But step back and consider that this business is your life.
How are you playing the game of your life? Each and every one of us has a purpose and mission in our life. As a home-based business owner, have you taken the time to step back to examine yours?
This takes enormous courage. It's so easy to get caught up in the daily treadmill of just doing, and doing and doing, over and over again. Our daily routine of getting up, taking care or what we need to take care of, working, responding to emails, taking care of more stuff, then off to bed. It's an arduous, and often unattractive schedule, which you can easily grow to despise when you allow it to overwhelm, and wear you down.
What if you could wave a magic wand and change your situation completely? What would that look like for you? Do you even know?
You, like trillions of people around the world, have dreams. You have wants, needs and desires. However, until you take action in the direction of those aspirations, they are merely fantasies, like the fairy tales you read growing up. However, when things get tough and challenging, quitting is often an easy way out.
Many years ago, one of my first real mentors, use to constantly remind his flock of followers that "most people die with their music inside them." Whenever I heard him say that, I shuddered, and vowed that I wouldn't be one of them.
How about you? What music do you have inside of you that's yearning to escape, and be heard by others? It's so easy to think that you don't have anything worthwhile to add, especially when you compare yourself to giants, famous people such as Oprah, Michael Jordan, or Yitzak Perlman, and many, many more.
Knowing yourself, honoring and appreciating your skills, talents and abilities, is a starting point in understanding what you can share with others, be it your family, friends, customers, community or the world. However small your contribution, embrace it for what it is because you never know how it will affect another to strive for success. Like a pebble thrown into a pond, your gifts are the ripples that spread from small to large making their impact.
What is your mission and purpose in life? Getting back to your customers and prospects, how do you show up when you talk to them, over the phone or in person? Where is your focus? Are you customer-centric or self-absorbed?
People are hurting. They not only want solutions to problems or challenges, they really want people they can trust, people who are real, transparent and want to help. Are you able to use your skills, abilities and talents to help your customers and prospects? Can you lead and inspire them?
Take time every day to focus inward to truly get to know who you are, and how best you can be the kind of person others can trust and follow.
