It's not - and I've seen people who seemingly should know better, perpetuate these fraudulent opinion.
The Fair Credit Reporting Act, and ALL of it's re-writes and amendments (and each of our recent Presidents, and Congress's have done so) SPECIFICALLY stipulate for professional credit repair firms and their functions.
The FCRA outlines EXACTLY what the credit bureaus must do to keep accurate records of your credit history.
The CROA (Credit Repair Organizations Act) stipulates what repair firms MUST do to be fair and accurate with YOU! So the next time you hear someone on TV say...
"credit repair companies are illegal", simply write in and ask - why is there a LAW in place that discusses their responsibilities...
if indeed they are against the law in the first place? They are TOTALLY legal - of course that says nothing about their efficiency or ethics afterwards, but they are completely kosher to exist! Categorized: Are they Worth it? Totally different question...
and I'm going to say NO! You can repair your credit yourself using the exact same strategies they use for you, and it is MUCH cheaper to learn how to do it, than outsource it.
I recommend the VERY inexpensive course below, but there are any number of good sources of information online on how to fix your credit fast.
Remember, this stuff is NOT rocket science, and anyone with some technique and information CAN have excellent results.
It's simply a question of taking that first step - which, if your credit is poor, should be the very NEXT step you take!
