Even if you do not get an instant decision, you should have a decision within two weeks.

- 1). Visit the bank where you keep your checking and savings account. Ask the bank representative about any credit cards the bank offers. Having an established relationship with a particular bank can make it easier to get a credit card.
- 2). Ask the bank representative how long it takes for a new credit card application to be approved. Apply for the card if the decision can be made within your two-week time frame.
- 3). Complete the application for the bank's credit card and wait for it to be approved. Some banks provide instant notification of the approval decision, while others can take a few days. Keep a copy of your credit card application and follow up with the bank if you do not receive a decision within a week.
